my world (again)

Some more pictures from the My World project:

First, another pic of Dad and Frankie. (I'll let you guess which one is my dad!)

The Back '40. It's been almost four years and we still haven't put grass in. It's an eyesore, but when you don't have money for grass, you don't have the money.

The view from my window. My rear window. Look! There goes Jimmy Stewart to save Grace Kelly!

Cat on a hot tin Honda:

Finally, my sister in Shadow:

Today I finally got my copy of "The Battle For God" by Karen Armstrong. It's been on transfer from the local library for a couple weeks now. I look forward to her take on fundamentalism -- as a former (recovering?) fundamentalist myself, it should be a healing experience.

Nice pictures, but why is Frankie wearing the Texas -t-shirt?

Enjoy the Armstrong book. I just started reading Breuce Bawer's Stealing Jesus: How Fundamentalism Betrays Christianity, recommended by the head of the pastoral studies program here. Too early to say if I will like it. He is Episcopalian, and so far fairly assertive (aggressive?) and blunt about Catholicims as well as fundamentalism. He disagrees with Armstrong on at least one point so far, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of it goes.

Whatever else, I become more and more convinced of the desperate need for education about religious and church history for everyone.

I'll have to get both books -- sadly, the libraries around here don't have the in-depth stock that my old library in the Bay Area used to have. Hence me waiting for weeks to get the Armstrong book...

I'll keep an eye out for it, though.
